About Rainier League of Arts

"Rainier League of Arts" holds monthly meetings from September to June on the 3rd Tuesdays of the month, from 7:00PM to 9:00 PM, at Mid-County Community Center, 10205 44th Ave E., Tacoma, WA 98446. Meetings feature artist demonstrations of techniques and materials such as: Oil, watercolor, pastels, colored pencil, charcoal, acrylic, 3D art, photography and mixed media. Several RLA members regularly sell their artwork year-round at our local show venues as well as several special bookings each year. "The Rainier Arts and Crafts League" was started in 1968 by Roseli Souza, Paul Chalk, Hazel Gibbons, Fred Oldfield, Aletha Deuel and Becky Stol. Many professional artist members included: Fred Oldfield , Norman Butterfield, Mark Downey, Dale Thompson, Alice Larson, Mary Jarrett and Aletha Deuel. Years later, the name was changed "Rainier League of Arts" which better represents club members' interest, focus and direction. "Rainier League of Arts" welcomes new members who are fine artists, photographers, as well as new emerging artists! Yearly club dues are currently only $25.

October 2018 Art Presentation/Demonstrator

The October 16th demonstrator for Rainier League of Arts will be Tim Huhn.  Tim graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts with a BA in Fine Arts and Illustration.  He worked as a commercial illustrator in Los Angeles for Disney, Universal Studios, Sony and Mattel.  Tim is fascinated by the interplay of light and shadow, the quicksilver qualities of illumination. He exhibits at the Proctor Art Gallery in the north end of Tacoma.  Tim's website:
