I
enjoy creating miniature paintings. After many years of
creating larger pieces of art, my focus now centers on creating miniature art
work. After downsizing in a recent move,
I have limited wall space, but find that there’s always room for minis!
My
30 years as an art teacher, for children ages 6 – 16, lead me to venture into
many different mediums in order to teach the varied interests of my students
and enable them to develop their own art styles, choose their own mediums and
subject matter.
I
love the Pacific Northwest, having been raised here and living in Tacoma
Washington, for 70 years, am approaching my 82nd birthday. My husband,
Larry, and I enjoyed 60 years of marriage.
Larry passed away a few years ago.
He was in the Air Force, so several assignments brought us to live in
different cities in the US, but my heart has stayed here in Tacoma.
Washington
State has much to offer: Exploration,
arts, music, sports, community events, celebrations, so many things to do and
see. Even the weather and seasons here
are enjoyable. There are so many places and things that inspire me to create
art.
Some
favorite subjects of mine to paint have been:
The water, pictures that tell a story and tug boats. I am so honored that my art has won many
awards …. some in “private” collections …. After I drew a picture of Mount Rainier
for my granddaughter, who lives in New Zealand, she had it tattooed on her
“hip”.
